	The Guidelines, based on earthquake engineering expertise but intended for use by non-engineers such as with self-built housing. Dr. Anand S. Arya, Dr. Teddy Boen, and Dr. Yuji Ishiyama, three authors of the last (1986) edition of the of the IAEE's Guidelines for "Earthquake Resistant Non-Engineered Construction," met in Tokyo in 2008 to discuss the updating of the publication.
